Do you have to be Jewish to attend the preschool or classes?

No, we welcome families of all faiths.

Are you affiliated with Temple Beth El?

No, we are an independent LLC that is lucky to be able to rent a beautiful space from them.

Do you have to be a member of a synagogue to attend?

No, there are no requirements to be members of any faith communities.

What if my child wants to talk about Santa or the Easter Bunny?

Great, we cannot wait to hear what they want to tell us. This is how we get to know your child better!

Are you privately owned?

Yes! We are a family, women, combat veteran, Asian American, and Jewish-owned preschool.

Can we bring our own food?

Yes, though your tuition includes all meals. Meals are served family style, providing children with the opportunity to build skills in physical development and self-help by using tools to grasp food, pour from a pitcher into their cup, counting servings on their plates, and cleaning up their dishes, culminating in wiping their tables clean and washing their hands.

My child is a picky eater; how do you handle that?

We provide the opportunity for your child to try food on the table, family style. If your child does not want to try the food or does not like it. That is okay, that is part of the learning process. We can collaborate with you and provide a separate meal plan, so your child knows there is always food for them. The last thing we want is your child to develop food insecurities.

If your child is hungry, we will feed them.

What if my child needs medication during the day, can you give it to them?

Yes, we can administer the medication with the appropriate form we will have you fill out. All medications are locked away in the director’s office or kitchen refrigerator if refrigeration is required.

My child struggles with nap time / no longer takes naps, do you require them to take a nap?

No, state licensing requires us to provide the opportunity for each child to rest their mind and body for at least 30 minutes. If your child struggles with naps or no longer takes them, that is okay, we will encourage them to rest their body on their cot with a book or comfort item.

Do you have experience in working with children who have disabilities?

Yes, our commitment to an inclusive kehillah (community) extends to every child and family. We deeply understand that some children thrive with additional support, and we are dedicated partners in their journey. We work hand-in-hand with your child's entire support team, including Occupational, Speech, Physical, and Behavioral Therapists, Regional Center Service Coordinators, school districts, and pediatricians, to ensure a holistic approach that aligns with your family's goals. Our collaborative spirit means we actively craft an individualized plan that works best for your child, including the unique benefit of allowing your child's specialists and therapists to provide services throughout the day, right here at Kehillah. This ensures your child has full and seamless access to their community and learning environment, just like their peers, fostering their growth and sense of belonging every step of the way.

Can I pick my child up early?

Sure, just let us know ahead of time so we can prepare them for the change in their schedule that day.

What is your ratio of adult : child?

18-24 months - 1:4

24-36 months - 1:5

3-6 years old - 1:6

Tell me about your security.

As an independent school, we have a separate and discreet entrance that requires families to be let in using a camera system. We practice various safety and security drills every month. There are several other things in place that we are happy to discuss with you on a tour and more when you start our program.
